Workplace giving

Diabetes affects one in four Australian adults over the age of 25. That means if you’re working in a typical workplace one in four of your colleagues is living with diabetes.

This is an alarming statistic that is only set to rise as the diabetes epidemic continues to grow. Every 5 minutes someone in Australia is diagnosed with diabetes – this adds up to almost 300 people being diagnosed each day. As the incidence and prevalence of diabetes continues to soar our work becomes ever more important.

Through workplace giving you have the power to help us combat this epidemic and one day find a cure.

How workplace giving helps us

Diabetes NSW & ACT relies heavily on contributions from our generous supporters and Corporate Partners. Through workplace giving, you can have a huge impact by helping to fund:

  • Family fun days to help children living with type 1 diabetes and their families to connect and learn about diabetes management
  • Public campaigns to challenge perceptions about diabetes, with the aim to reduce complications from the condition and tackle stigma
  • Crucial research to improve services, develop better treatments and search for a possible future cure

How workplace giving benefits you

Studies show the positive impact that engaging in workplace giving can have for your organisation and staff by improving:

  • Staff engagement
  • Staff retention
  • Productivity

The Australian Charities Fund and the Centre for Social Impact surveyed more than 4,100 employees. They conducted 40 face-to-face interviews with Chief Executives and other senior personnel from a wide range of employers.

Their results? 95 per cent of respondents are keen to be involved in workplace giving. The research showed that people who give are more engaged, more motivated and prouder of their employer.

How your employees can give

You can encourage your employees to realise the value of workplace giving and make life easier for people living with or at risk of diabetes. It’s so easy.

Employees can give financial contributions as part of their pre-tax payroll. They can give as little as $2 a month or as much as they can afford – enjoying tax benefits as well. They won’t have to wait until the end of the financial year to receive their tax deduction.

Enterprises can support us further by matching their employees’ contributions dollar for dollar.
